21-25 de agosto Quiz Monday! It will cover articles, gender of nouns, and plural of nouns. We will be reviewing the numbers 0-30, including the pronunciation, spelling, and doing some Math problems. 28 de agosto-1 de septiembre

23-27 de octubre
This week we will finish practicing present tense conjugations and question words. We will have a quiz about it on Wednesday. We will start learning about the verbs ser and estar (to be) the rest of the week.
30 de octubre-3 de noviembre
You are doing great with the verbs ser y estar! Remember to keep reviewing the different uses and conjugations for each particular verb. I will add some prepositions of place to be used with the verb estar (location!). I will tell you everything related to the extra credit opportunity this week. 6-10 de noviembre
This week will be super busy! On Monday we will review for the Unit 2 test. The test is on Wednesday! There is no school on Tuesday. Also this week we will complete some listening exercises to identify cognates, and answer questions based in a recorded conversation. In a cultural note, we will read about Octavio Paz and complete a reading comprehension exercise. We will watch a video about the University of Mexico, and compare it to the ones in the United States. You will receive the Unit 3 vocabulary list, and learn about the end of the 1st semester cultural project.
13-17 de noviembre
This week we will be learning about the family and professions. You will be creating a family tree and present it to your classmates. Also, we will create a "live" family tree in class made up of the students, and we will ask them questions in Spanish about their family members. The quiz will be on Monday, November 27.

I hope you had a great Fall Break! On Monday we will have the family vocabulary quiz. Then, we will watch another "Fotonovela" episode to see how Marissa is doing with her new family. They will have "Un dia en familia" (a family day) at the park. We will learn about surnames, Hispanic families, and the Spain's Royal Family. We will also learn about high-frequency descriptive adjectives. It includes their forms, agreement, and position of an adjective in a Spanish sentence. Some colors and adjectives of nationalities will be added to our high-frequency descriptive adjectives list. You will be ready to describe your family, friends, pets, and yourself by the end of the week!
***The project assigned on November 6 is due this Friday December 1st! Late work will no be accepted!***

This week we will learn about possessive adjectives. We will have the visit of the counselors to talk about career choices, and we will start the Spanish-speaking countries presentations. Quiz Monday!

Due to the fact that we missed two days of school because of the weather, we will finish all the presentations first this week, and then we will have the quiz Friday or Monday.
18-20 de diciembre
We have to continue this week making-up the Spanish-speaking countries presentations. It is a race against the clock, but we can do it! We can't go against the weather! :) The 4th, 5th, and 7th periods are going to have the quiz on Monday, and the 3rd period on Wednesday. We will finish this week locating all the Spanish-speaking countries in a map, and having a taste of different types of food from the Hispanic world. Hola! I hope you had a wonderful break! This week we only have class two days. We will use those 2 days to review everything learned the first semester! From greetings until adjectives. The academy will reviewed all the stories and will plan their presentations. See you on Thursday! :)
8-12 de enero
There is no school tomorrow! On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will continue reviewing semester 1. On Thursday and Friday, we will work with possessive adjectives. We will finish Chapter 3 by the end of this month. Some of the things that we will cover this month are -ER and -IR ending verbs, the irregular verbs tener and venir, telling your age, and prepositions of location. The pre-academy will be presenting their capstone project to their classmates.
15- 19 de enero
There is no school on Monday! I will use this week the teaching method TPRS with my regular class. I use it all the time with the pre-academy. You will be able to learn prepositions of location in a fast and super fun way. You will have the opportunity to experiment how your Spanish class at SHS will be. Be ready to listen to a wonderful Spanish story! The pre-academy will keep presenting their capstone project to their peers. There will be a prepositions quiz next Monday!

Due to the fact that we did not have school last week, we will push everything 3 days. We will enrich the TPRS story allowing more small groups to present their acting skills. Es obvio! :)
29 de enero-2 de febrero
This week we will be working with -ER and -IR ending verbs. You will learn new verbs, and how to conjugate them in the present tense. Like always, we will complete many different activities that will help you understand these verbs. You already learned how to conjugate -AR verbs, so it should be easy. On Thursday, the ISLA supervisor and teachers are going to be at Daniell talking about the academy, and answering all your questions! On Friday 5th, 6th, and 7th periods will take the quiz. The pre-academy will keep presenting their capstone projects. We are almost done. We expect to finish the presentations by Monday.
5-9 de febrero
We had fun last week finishing the TPRS story! On Monday the 3rd period will take the prepositions quiz. We will review the -ER and -IR verbs one more time, and learn about the verbs tener and venir. You will learn how to tell in Spanish how old you are! The pre-academy will finish their capstone project presentations, and will start a new story.
12=16 de febrero
This week the pre-academy will share their original story ending written in Spanish, will act out the story, have a Spanish karaoke, review the story with Kahoot, and finish the week with a quiz (Friday).
This week the regular classes will review for the Unit 3 test. The test is this Thursday. It includes possessive adjectives, descriptive adjectives, -ER/-IR verbs, tener, venir, and family. Monday is the last =ER/-IR verbs practice. On Tuesday and Wednesday we will complete a study guide and review it before the test. On Friday you will receive the Unit 4 vocabulary list so you can study it during the break. Use the following videos to study for the test:

We will start Unit 4 on Monday. You received the new vocabulary list for this unit on 2/16/18. We are going to spend the week creating an "interactive notebook" where you are going to conjugate stem-changing verbs (booth or shoe verbs), and irregular verbs. These type of verbs are a little more difficult. You will use your "interactive notebook" to study them daily. You can do it!

This week we will start working with the Unit 4 vocabulary words (places, hobbies, and sports). Remember to review them at home too. The vocabulary quiz will be on Monday. Use your interactive notebook to review the stem-changers, and other irregular verbs.

The Unit 4 vocabulary quiz is on Monday, March 12. This week we will learn functional phrases for making invitations and plans. We will watch another episode of "Fotonovela" to find out what plans Marissa and her friends have for the weekend. Also, we will take a look at the present tense of the irregular verb ir (to go), the contraction al, the use of ir a + (infinitive) to express future events, and -vamos a to express let’s…

Then we will spend the rest of the week learning about stem-changing verbs and other irregular verbs. Remember to use your "Booth Verbs" interactive notebook, and irregular verbs wheel to study for the next test.
Congratulations to the pre-academy students who successfully completed the capstone project. Whoever did not turn in the documents last Thursday, will receive a late grade. We will continue with the story "La calabaza y el gato" to review stem-changers, hobbies, sports, and food.

Remember to keep reviewing the food vocabulary. You will create a short skit about "En el restaurante", and a menu to use it on the skit. We will practice how to have a proper conversation with a waiter, ask questions about the menu, place an order, resolve any situations, and pay for the bill. You will be able to use all this knowledge the next time you visit a Hispanic restaurant! Check the following video!
